The New York-based violinist Miki-Sophia Cloud enjoys a rich musical life as a recitalist, chamber musician, orchestra leader, and an innovative arts advocate.

As a soloist and recitalist, she has appeared at Boston Symphony Hall, Kennedy Center, on NPR, and Austrian National Radio. Recent performance highlights include Barber’s Violin Concerto with Maestro Peter Oundjian, duos with Ani and Ida Kavafian at Lincoln Center, and Schnittke’s “Moz-Art a la Haydn” at Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. An avid chamber musician, Cloud is a founding member of the Fidelio String Quartet and Arte Trio, and first violinist of the North Country Chamber Players. As a core member of the self-conducted chamber orchestra – A Far Cry – her leadership as concertmaster and soloist has been acclaimed by The New York Times and The Boston Globe.

Cloud is among the leaders of a new generation of musicians dedicated to creating and running their own organizations, engaging with the public in fresh and creative ways. She was recently appointed the Artistic Director of the White Mountains Music Festival, after serving as its programming director since 2011, and is developing a music program for the homeless at New York’s Bowery Mission. Her innovative programming has been lauded by The Boston Globe and The Boston Musical Intelligencer. Cloud’s newest project, The Fidelio String Quartet, is similarly forward thinking– launching its own concert series in Manhattan, and “Fidelio Untapped,” an endeavor geared toward igniting a fire for chamber music in listeners under 40 across New York.

An alumna of Harvard College, Vienna Music University, Yale School of Music, and the Perlman Music Program, Cloud is currently a doctoral candidate at New England Conservatory. She has been blessed with the inspiring mentorship of such artists as Robert Levin, Ricardo Cyncynates, Ani Kavafian, and Miriam Fried.
