Monica PegisViolinist Monica Pegis has an active performing career throughout the United States and Canada. Her recent appearances have ranged in style from classical, in Vancouver’s historic Orpheum Theatre, to Japanese prog rock, to Afro-Peruvian jazz in Brooklyn’s Barbès. A sought-after chamber and avant garde musician, her performances have been described by the press as “expert” and “stunning.”

The youngest in a family of seven musicians, Pegis began violin studies at age two. She completed formal training at New England Conservatory, under the tutelage of her childhood mentor, legendary pedagogue Eric Rosenblith. Pegis also studied with Michèle Auclair and credits Stephen Drury as an important musical influence. She is a frequent guest artist at music festivals, including the Sarasota Music Festival, Yellow Barn, Banff Centre, Chautauqua Institution, and Halcyon Music Festival. Pegis has recorded for Elfin, Albany, and Brave Wave labels, in addition to performing and recording with the Pegis Quartet, Trio Viscaria, and Acheron Quartet.
